Rapid Communications announced the launch of a mobile money remittance service termed MobiPesa that was developed in conjunction with Alghurair Money Exchange, a leading financial institution in the United Arab Emirates.
MobiPesa is a mobile money remittance service that will enable Kenyans living in the UAE to send funds through an Alghurair Agent to an Mpesa or Airtel Money account to Kenya. This will be the second mobile remittance service serving the growing number of Kenyans in the UAE. According to Central Bank statistics, remittance inflow amounted to USD 107.5 million in September 2013, roughly 16 percent higher than last year. Read more
President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Tuesday launched the Balozi app during the 17th Biennial Ambassadors’ High Commissioners’ Conference at Ukunda in Kwale County.
The mobile application, a first of its kind, powered by Rapid Communications Limited, enable the envoy to have seamless interaction with the Foreign Affairs Office and the Cabinet Secretary.
Amina Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, said; “ The Balozi app is the first of it’s kind in the world, connecting all the ambassadors together.” Read more
The Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) produced what was expected of them, total fireworks, beating the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) team by 11 points to clinch the Rapid Golf Challenge Trophy at the par 71 Muthaiga Golf Club course yesterday.
They collected a total of 24 points against the juniors’ 14 and 10 by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) national team, to win with a total of 49 points. The juniors led by Kenya’s top female golfer Naomi Wafula managed 38 points while the national team which was due to fly out for Entebbe Uganda for the East Africa Challenge Cup, finished with a total of 33 points. “These juniors are very good in fact next year they should play off-scratch as opposed to be given some strokes” said Thika pro Simon Ngige national team player Nelson Simwa and junior KrishanSarna 5-4 and 4-3.
